Cool Dude!

From some convention for work, Andy got this pair of sunglasses, that we immediately gave to Drew. (for obvious reasons-- we didn't want to wear them!) The funny thing is, Drew has completely taken to them! It cracks us up! He loves, loves, loves to wear these sunglasses, and does most every day. He'll play in them, watch tv in them, run around in them. Then, when he gets tired of looking through darkened lenses, he simply pushes them up to rest on the top of his head :o) What a goof!! (and oh how we love him!)

We're Tourists!!!

We feel like tourists in our own area! Neither of us had ever been to or lived in the midwest until we moved here, so we're having a ball seeing all the sites!!

Chicago, of course, is only 1 1/2 hours away from home. We're kinda cheap, so we haven't done much there other than attend the temple, ride around town on the free trolley, and visit the free Navy Pier! (although, I wouldn't actually call it free after we'd paid $22 to park!)

The Mall of America was one of our first outings-- St. Paul, MN. At the time we went, Andy worked crazy hours, and so any time we could get a weekend away together was a luxury. We jumped at the chance.

Nauvoo is only 3 1/2 hours away from home!! We love going there, and have been more than once. The temple is beautiful, and the spirit in that little city is so peaceful. What a fun 'get away'-- we truly feel like we're in another world when we go (which is nice sometimes :o) Hopefully sometime soon we can make it in the summer to see the pageant.

I had the opportunity to go on a trip last year with the youth to Missouri and see all the church history sites there. We saw Independence, Liberty, Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahman, and Haun's Mill. That is a trip I'll never forget, and I cannot wait to take Andy back. Wow-- it's just simply amazing to be there and to see all the sites there are to see in that small area.

In Pleasant Prairie, WI is the Jelly Belly Factory. We've been a few times, and each time try some new disgusting flavor of Jelly Belly. The worst I've tried so far is booger. Andy's gotten brave enough for earth worm.... ewwwww! Not quite as gross as my little brother-in-law and sister-in-law who were brave enough to taste 'vomit'. :P

Springfield, IL is probably one of my favorite places to visit-- especially the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. I would recommend this to anyone--wow-- it's a great place!! We spent a day in the city, touring all the Lincoln sites and the Capitol.

St. Louis, MO was a quick trip for us-- we spent one day there, and could have spent more time. We did enjoy a nice nap, and some time relaxing in the park under the arch.

We've got a lot more traveling to do, and we can't wait for it! We plan to go to Wisconsin Dells this summer for a family reunion, and I'm sure we'll find time to do a lot more traveling as well. We live in a great area of the country!!!!!

Here we go...

Hi all. After months of seeing a bunch of our friends post up their new blogs, I decided to create one of our own. Seems fun, so here we go!

As for a little update.... We are living in IL now, near the Wisconsin state line. We have been here for a little over 2 years, and we are loving it!! We've been living in our first home for a little over 1 year now, and that brings all sorts of work projects. :o) In April we plan to spend a couple of weeks to get going on finishing the basement. Last summer was getting the yard all in, and boy-- are we glad that's done! (we'll never again buy a house where we've got to put the yard in ourselves!)

Andy works at United Way, in Rockford. It's perfect for him-- a job he truly loves doing! He is a 'resource manager'-- basically gets to work with a myriad of companies in the area to help them run their United Way campaign. He gets to be out and about doing some public speaking, working with people, and building relationships-- that's his kind of work!

Kimra (I) get the privilege of staying home with Drew. I love being a mom, and love being able to spend as much time as I do with him. We love to sing and dance (although Drew would prefer to have dance parties with Dad rather than mom), read books, color, play outside, etc. I stay busy with Drew, the 5 piano students that I have, and church stuff. It's a good life!

Drew just turned 2 in Jan. He's all boy, and all 2 year old, that's for sure! He makes us laugh and laugh and laugh-- he got that from dad. Drew's favorite things to do are: dance, run, jump, play any game that involves a ball, watch bugs outside (although right now it's too cold for that), find airplanes flying in the sky, read books, color, watch "The Incredibles" (his all time favorite movie). He recently starting wearing his tie to church, and is oh so handsome!
