Good Times on the 4th of July

Hey, so we're a little late in posting these pictures, but I wanted to wait until the blog went private. Hopefully everyone got their invites and is able to see this alright :)

So, the weekend of the 4th was a great, long weekend! We love those! We spend most of the daytime Friday and Saturday working in the basement (drywall, drywall, drywall...) Andy and I are definitely learners! Thank goodness for giving and kind ward members who are willing to come to teach and help us along!

We went to the awesome Beloit, WI Firework show for the second time since living here. It really is impressive, I must say! We quite enjoyed it; especially Drew!! He couldn't get enough, and still will ask constantly for more fireworks (he says 'fahdder' :) What a sweet boy! It always seems to turn out to be a mini ward party at this firework show, which is fun. We had quite a few families from our ward there this year. Drew loved running around with all the kids. We feel so blessed to live in a country where we have the freedoms we do! It's amazing to sit and think about. Here are some pics from the fun day!

Drew and his sparklers

He couldn't take his eyes off the sparkler!

Drew is definitely his father's son: look at that silly face :)

Tagged: 3 Things

Carissa tagged me on this.... I think this is a hard one! But here we go :) (sorry it's taken forever and a day Carissa!)

3 THINGS

3 Joys
1)My Husband- he can make me laugh like no one else, and I love it!

2)My kids (still weird to say kid-S-!) Just a peek at Drew's sweet little face gets me, and feeling little Grant move all over (which he does a lot!!) is still just as amazing and neat as the first time I ever felt a baby move in me.

3) Chocolate/any dessert! ;)

3 Fears
1) Something or someone hurting my little boy's feelings/making him sad. I'm nervous for him to go to school! :)

2) Weird noises in the dark at night... I'm kinda like a little girl still in that sense. It's good I have Andy nearby to hang on to :)

3) Bugs crawling up my legs after sitting in the grass/outside for too long... ewww!

3 Goals

1) To get the house deep cleaned and organized before our family reunion in August

2) To finish the basement by August 9th or so (again: for the family reunion/Andy's seminary class that will start down there August 26th. we're stressing over the little amount of time left! ahh!)

3) To better follow the spirit's promptings and be a true servant of my Savior, Jesus Christ. (which is really a constant #1 goal for me! :)

3 Obsessions

1) Making sure the books are put back on the bookshelf. Weird, I know, but if Drew's books are strewn all over, I feel like the house is a mess.

2) Food. It's really quite sad! I love to eat!

3) Twilight Series! Love, love, love those books, and can't wait for Breaking Dawn!

3 Random Facts

1) I did a paper route two summers in a row with a baby/toddler. It was an adventure to say the least :)

2) Andy and I know nothing about planting/gardening/landscaping. People will frequently say, "Oh, that plant is so beautiful. What is it?" To which we reply, "We have no idea; we just thought it looked cool at the nursery and bought it!" We're nuts! :)

3) I'm pretty much addicted to chapstick. I have to have some with me wherever I go.

Happy Birthday Whitney!!!!

Today (well, tomorrow for us here in the states.... but today for Whitney who's in Australia) is my sister's birthday! I just wanted to send a shout out to her. I hope your day is fantastic, WHITNEY!!! You deserve a great day, and I don't doubt that your cute Adam will give you one :)

My sister is the best sister I could have ever asked for-- not to mention that she's my favorite sister, too! ;) She is so loving, giving, caring, kind, fun, funny, thoughtful, sweet, adorable, talented, amazing, and happy!!!! Andy and I were lucky enough to have her come here to live with us for a few months last year, and it was such a blast!! I miss having her around so much (especially now that she's really far away.... in another country!), but I'm so happy that she's able to have the experiences she's having now. Drew loves his Aunt Whitney!!! Although he was small while she was here, he still frequently asks about 'Whinny'? He'll realize she's not here and say, 'Whinny aaa gone.' He loves her so much! She's going to make a great wife and mother someday soon, and I know that her kids will love her and look up to her and respect her and revere her.

So, here's to YOU, Whit! A new post just for YOU! :) he he I love you, Whit, and I hope you always remember that!!!!!!!! Have a good one!

Drew and his Friends

Drew has fallen in love with his 3 stuffed animals. There's bear, cat, and dog. He cracks us up! They have to be with him when he goes down for a nap or to bed. Then, he'll take them around with him throughout the day as well. He'll feed them, give them something to drink, sit them up with him to watch Sesame Street, take them out to his picnic table for a picnic, etc. It's so cute! I guess in a way he's preparing himself for a little brother :)

LIVE UNITED

A couple of weeks ago Drew and I were invited to participate in a photo shoot for Andy's work. For those of you who don't know, he works for United Way (the charity). For the upcoming campaign year, they've got a new theme: "Live United". They did a photo shoot with all sorts of different people, all wearing the new live united t-shirts.

We had fun being on camera, getting our pictures taken, and eating the yummy treats they provided. Towards the end, Hammy, the Rockford IceHogs mascot came to be a part of the shoot. The IceHogs are huge here in Rockford; everyone loves them. We were excited for Drew to get pictures with the mascot. Hammy was meant to get pictures with all the little kids there (there were about 8 at one point), but by the time Hammy got to the location, Drew was the only child still there. SO, Drew got Hammy all to himself! We were curious to see if Drew would be afraid or scared of Hammy, but the second he saw him, he ran up and gave him a big hug! Drew loved getting all sorts of pictures with Hammy, and we had fun watching :) Here are some that I took along the way.

Love at first sight: the first Hug

Drew's thinking, "Hammy's SO cool!"

Happy Camper

I wish I would have gotten a picture of Drew as Hammy walked away (when the photo shoot was all done). Drew was soooo sad! He was crying hysterically, and all of us adults in attendance were just laughing. What a sweet kid! Good thing there was juice on hand: some juice can solve just about any of Drew's problems :)

And it's a....

BOY!!! We're having boy #2 in our little family! We are so excited to add another little one to our family, and we're also grateful that we've got another four months to prepare for two boys :) That solves the name issue, though. We're clueless when it comes to girls names... we have yet to find one that we both really like. With boy names, on the other hand, we're set! So, Grant David is due to be born on or around October 8th, 2008. We're very excited for his arrival!

Here are some pictures from the ultrasound. The 3D pics are so neat-- too bad Grant was being shy. He was hiding half of his face with his arm, and was turned away from the 'camera'. These are what we got:

His fist is up on his forehead, with his knee bent up to his elbow. You can see his little profile

His little face; he pulled his arm down for just a second, and we got this shot, then the arm went right back up :)
