We are having so much fun with a sweet little newborn in the house again! (if it weren't for the awesome help of Grandma and Grandpa, I think I'd be stressed and worn out beyond belief, but they're here and helping a ton, and so we're loving it! :)
Little Mack is such a good, good baby! Literally sleeps for 23 hours a day-- and eats somewhere in there too. At nights he's been getting up just once around 3, then right back to sleep. What a chill, easy going, and happy baby!
His brothers are absolutely loving him-- especially Drew. D wants to hold him 24/7-- I have to pry the baby away from him to make sure that Grandma gets her fill while she's here :)

After each of my children were born, I have felt the spirit strongly-- knowing that this little spirit was sent to our home for a reason. There is nothing different there with Mack's birth. He is such a miracle, and we're grateful to have him in our family!
Last Friday, May 6th, I had my last Dr's appt. There, the ultrasound measured baby to be 9 lbs 11 oz (HUGE! and scary!). This fact, along with the fact that I was still not dilated or effaced hardly at all, led the Dr's to believe that he was just too big to come down on his own, and most likely would not fit. This, along with some other minor concerns, led our discussion in the direction of doing a c-section.
Although I never thought I would choose to have a c-section, the more I spoke with my Dr about it, the more I realized that this was the right thing to do. Even just thinking about attempting an induction or a vaginal birth did not feel right. SO, we went ahead and scheduled the c-section for the next morning at 7:30.
The rest of that day we were able to pack up and get ready for a baby! Andy and his dad were able to give me a priesthood blessing, which was very comforting heading into surgery. We all felt good about the path we were taking.

Saturday morning, at 5 am we were on our way to the hospital. We got there, and everything seemed to happen fast. Before I knew it, I was completely numb in the OR, and Andy was all scrubbed up sitting next to me :) Finally, the procedure began-- we were having a baby!!! As the baby came out, my Dr said to me, "Kimra- baby had the cord wrapped around his neck twice. If we had attempted a vaginal delivery, he would not have liked that very much, and I guarantee we would have been in here anyway."

Wow. Wow. Wow. was all I could think-- I looked over at Andy, and we both knew this was the real reason we felt like a c-section was the way we needed to go. We were led by the Spirit and a loving Heavenly Father, and for that I am very grateful. We know, by association, someone who was in this very position-- was delivered with the cord around his neck twice, and due to little oxygen to the brain during delivery, has a forever different life. We know that no matter what happened, our Father in Heaven is in control and loves us more than we know. We also know that, for whatever reason, this little baby needed to be born via c-section. We are so blessed, and so grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost!!!

In the end, Mack was only 8 lbs 2 oz and 19.5 inches long-- much smaller than they predicted, and much smaller than my last baby (who was 8 lbs 10 oz, 22 inches long). I'm sure he could have fit through my pelvis, but I am grateful that we didn't think that would be the case-- that is what kept him safe. I am grateful for ultrasound errors! :)

Family is number one. We know that to be true. We know that things don't always turn out the way we think or even hope they will, but we know that there is a purpose behind it all. Our Father in Heaven is real- He knows us, our circumstances, and our needs. We are so grateful for that knowledge!!!
